Connect a Device

In this tutorial you will learn how to connect a device to akenza.

If you do not have a physical device at hand, you can use the Device Simulator.

1. Create a Data Flow

Data Flows define how device data is processed and stored in akenza. To create a Data Flow, select "Create Data Flow" within the Data Flow menu.

1.1. Device Connector

To create a Data Flow, select "Create Data Flow" within the Data Flow menu. Select the Device Connector of your choice. The following Device Connectors are available:

1.2. Device Type

Choose your Device Type to extract, transform and normalize the data sent from the device. Akenza provides an extensive device type library with 100+ ready-to-use device types.

If you don't find a suitable Device Type or don't want to process the payload, select "Pass through". The payload will be forwarded without changes. You can create a Custom Device Type for your device later if you want.

1.3. Output Connector

Chose one or multiple Output Connectors for your Data Flow. Output Connectors define what is done with the data created by the device types. There are several options to choose from:

  • Akenza DB

    • Storing the data in the akenza database

  • Mailgun

    • Sending parts of the data in an e-mail to a recipient

  • Webhooks

    • Forwarding the data to a 3rd party system for further processing or storing

Output Connectors

The Akenza DB Output Connector ensures, that all data passing through this data flow is saved and thereby becomes accessible to you.
